Our teachers Trevor Howitt and Nek Indra have really enjoyed teaching us on Home Island this year. We have eight extraordinary Year 5 Students: Zain, Rahma, Kaliza, Izzul, Jufri, Nabilah, Sa-Adia, Rahim and eight fantastic Year 6 students: Mahadi, Iffah, Siti, Zabidi, Melor, Chempaka, Zahlan, Aswal. Our class is like our family! We learn in many ways. We particularly like to learn cooperatively in groups where we get to make our own decisions. We like to have lots of fun in our class. We play many energizer games which help us to discover one another and to build our courage. Our friend “Mr Reflection” appears everyday. He is our pelican toy and he allows us to reflect on our learning, values and feelings. Our class is a very safe and happy class. We respect and listen to each other. We encourage our freinds to have a go and to do their best. Giving each other appreciations is important to us and we like to study and practice the virtues. Our favourite virtue is “Striving for Excellence”. We are finding out that success comes through leadership, having integrity and having a strong belief in ourselves. This year we are building a traditional Jukong (boat) with Nek Ashari, designing pinball machines, setting up a salt water aquarium, taking tourists on Tours around our beautiful Island and joining regularly with our West Island peers for excursions and Collaborative Activity Days. Technology is big in our school! Having nine computers and an Electronic Whiteboard in our class means that we all get plenty of chances to use them for our learning. Lucky for us we have many other teachers who help us with our learning. They are Mr Borbas, Mrs Orford, Mrs Pal and Mr Bochenek. Thanks for helping us!
